Our story began in 1995, when, on the heels of Yakult being launched in the Netherlands and the narrative around nutrition in the food and beverage industry changing, The World of Food Ingredients published its NPD spread on functional foods. They used this shift in the industry to discuss the introduction of ingredients like pre- and probiotics and to catalogue the growth of their use in yogurt, dairy drinks, new gut-health-promoting products, and a nearly unending range of other foods and beverages that claimed to promote health benefits. 

Around 2006, among EFSA crackdowns, severe economic downturns, and a continued consumer interest and demand for health products to support long healthier lives, Nutrition Insight was launched with the goal of supplying the industry with daily updates.
